PEI 1000
PRES
ULTEM™ 1000 (Polyetherimide) is a high-performance amorphous thermoplastic renowned for its exceptional balance of heat resistance, mechanical strength, and inherent flame retardancy. It serves as a lightweight, cost-effective alternative to metal and ceramic in the most demanding environments.
Continuous use at 170°C. Short-term exposure up to 200°C. Ideal for under-hood and aerospace applications.
Low coefficient of thermal expansion (5.6 × 10⁻⁵). Maintains tight tolerances even during high-temp machining.
Inherently flame resistant without additives. Meets FAR 25.853 aviation standards.
Stable dielectric constant (Dk ~3.0) across a wide frequency range. Perfect for 5G and RF parts.
✔️ Metal Replacement: Reduce component weight by up to 50%.
✔️ Sterilizable: Withstands repeated autoclave (steam) sterilization.
✔️ Easy to Machine: Excellent machinability for complex CNC parts.
Thanks to its unique combination of high heat resistance, flame retardancy, and chemical stability, ULTEM™ 1000 PEI sheets are widely used as stock shapes for machining precision components across demanding industries.
Surgical Trays & Instrument Handles: Replaces stainless steel due to its ability to withstand repeated autoclave sterilization cycles (steam, chemical, radiation) without degrading.
Diagnostic Equipment Components: Used for MRI/NMR scanner parts requiring high dimensional stability and non-magnetic properties.
Dental & Orthodontic Devices: Ideal for sterilizable tools and fixtures due to biocompatibility (ISO 10993).
High-Frequency Connectors & Sockets:
The stable dielectric constant (Dk ~3.0) makes it perfect for 5G infrastructure and RF applications.
Test Sockets & Burn-in Boards:
Withstands high temperatures during chip testing without warping.
Wafer Carriers & Handling Tools:
High purity and chemical resistance make it suitable for cleanroom environments.
Cabin Interior Components:
Meets FAR 25.853 flammability requirements (UL94 V-0), used for seat parts, panels, and clips.
Aircraft Ducting & Manifolds:
Lightweight alternative to metal, capable of handling hot air from engine bleed systems.
Structural Brackets:
High strength-to-weight ratio allows for weight reduction in non-critical structures.
Under-the-Hood Sensors:
Operates reliably near engines where temperatures exceed 170°C.
Fuel System Components:
Excellent resistance to automotive fuels and alcohols.
Industrial Fixtures & Jigs:
Used in manufacturing lines for holding parts during high-temp painting or coating processes.
⚠️ Why is there a dimensional tolerance?
To accommodate subsequent CNC machining and finishing, our PEI sheets are supplied with a slight positive thickness tolerance. Please contact us for exact mill run dimensions if precision is critical.
