PEEK Sheet

PEEK Sheets: Stock Sizes, Properties &Advantages

PEEK Sheet Advantages  of PRES

All PRES extruded PEEK sheets undergo a rigorously controlled, customized annealing cycle ( 250°C ± 5°C soak temperature, 2–4 hours dwell time, followed by a controlled gradient slow cool at ≤ 10°C/hour) to fully release residual internal stress. This process guarantees exceptional flatness of ≥ 98% (per ASTM D1186) and long-term dimensional stability within ± 0.05 mm/m.

Compared to non-annealed PEEK sheets, PRES annealed stock shapes demonstrate a > 70% reduction in warpage and a > 60% reduction in machining-induced micro-cracking, making them ideally suited for high-precision structural components in semiconductor (wafer handling) and aerospace applications.

The annealing process drives PEEK crystallinity to an optimal range of 38–42%, significantly enhancing key material properties:

  • Rigidity & Creep Resistance: Flexural modulus increased.

  • Chemical Resistance: Improved barrier performance against aggressive media (acids, hydrocarbons, hydraulic fluids) at elevated temperatures.

  • Compactness & Wear Life:  20–30% improvement in wear factor (PV limit) under dry sliding conditions.

Precision Annealing Process

Controlled cycle at 250°C ± 5°C with slow cooling (≤10°C/hr) eliminates internal stress. Guarantees ≥98% flatness and dimensional stability of ±0.05mm/m.

Zero-Defect Machining

Reduces warpage risk by >70% and machining micro-cracks by >60%. Engineered for high-precision semiconductor & aerospace components.

Optimized Crystallinity

Achieves optimal crystallinity (38–42%). Boosts flexural modulus and improves wear life by 20–30% under dry running conditions.

Key Properties of PEEK Sheets

As a leading PEEK sheets manufacturer, PRES supplies stock shapes engineered to deliver the following intrinsic performance advantages:

  • High-Temperature Stability — Continuous service at 260°C, short-term peaks up to 300°C+, with a melting point around 343°C and UL 94 V-0 flammability rating without additives.

  • Exceptional Mechanical Strength (Isotropic) — Tensile strength from 100 MPa (Unfilled) up to 260 MPa (CF30 sheets), with outstanding fatigue resistance in both planar directions.

  • Superior Chemical and Hydrolysis Resistance — Impervious to most acids, bases, organic solvents, and oils; withstands high-pressure steam and repeated sterilization cycles.

  • Excellent Dimensional Stability & Flatness — Low moisture absorption (≤0.5%), stress-relieved processing, and thickness tolerances as tight as ±0.20 mm for precision-machined flat parts.

  • Outstanding Wear Resistance — CF30 grades & Bearing grade deliver exceptional wear performance for slide pads, seals, and bushings without external lubrication.

  • Reliable Electrical Insulation — Unfilled grade &  GF30 Grade Volume resistivity up to 1016 Ω·cm, stable dielectric properties across a wide temperature range, and low smoke/toxic gas emission when exposed to flame.

  • PRES ESD-grade PEEK sheets deliver permanent, bulk-stable volume resistivity of 10⁶–10⁹ Ω·cm (ASTM D257), with consistent resistivity from core to surface.

  • Industrial Machinery: Precision wear plates, slide ways, guide rails, conveyor scrapers

  • Automotive: Transmission thrust washers, brake system shims, engine peripheral insulating panels

How to Choose the Right PEEK Sheet Grade

Your primary performance driver determines the optimal grade:

flatness and purity → Unfilled

rigidity and dimensional stability → GF30

maximum strength and wear resistance → CF30.
